Does Your Marketing Strategy Need a 2024 Makeover?

Yes, it’s the new year and with it comes the inevitable posts on how this is an ideal time to reflect on the past year and plan for the new one. So, who are we to buck that trend? Before we say the final good-bye to 2023, let’s take some time for a bit of self-reflection.

How did your marketing strategy work out last year?

What worked? What didn’t? One way to answer those questions is to look at your KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).  If you don’t have any or if they’re outdated, now is the perfect time to set them up.

Did you hit your revenue goals?

If you fell short, maybe it’s time to rethink your monetization strategy. This may be the year that you decide to diversify with a new product or service or join forces with a partner to expand your customer base. Also, don’t forget your pricing model. Are you hitting that sweet spot between generating enough revenue for business while maintaining customer satisfaction?

Are you producing enough content?

Content is king (or so we’ve heard). Content marketing is a great way to build a relationship with your customers without the pressure of sales. Developing a content calendar is one way to ensure that you are consistently delivering value to your customers. Content can be blogs, social media posts, videos, newsletters, podcasts and more.

What did your competition do last year?

A smart marketing strategy is anchored in setting yourself apart from your competitors so it’s crucial that you know what they’re doing. Now would be a great time to re-visit this excellent post on How to Use Data Analytics to Evaluate the Competition.

What are the trends in your market?

While you’re researching your competition, look at the trends in your market as well. At this time of year, you can’t escape the posts prognosticating what’s in store for 2024.

How are your customers feeling?

Maybe it’s been a while since you really looked at your customer experience from their point of view. Are there aspects of their interactions with your product or service that leave them less than pleased? Are there areas that make them so happy they become an advocate for you?

Customer feedback is valuable tool to help gauge what needs improvement and what needs to be amplified. Creating a customer journey map is also another way of visualizing their experiences.
